I captured the moment this little one walked from a man to a woman, most likely its parents, on the north breakwater light in Ludington, Michigan’s Stern park as the sun was setting. This lighthouse was voted one of the top 10 lighthouses to see in the U.S. by the Weather Channel. I think this family moment added its own beauty to the scene.

I captured this moment as a gold finch was feeding and another bird, perhaps a house finch or purple finch, flew in very close. Was this just its way of greeting a fellow avian, or was it a confrontation? I prefer to think they were saying hello 🙂

The beginning of April brought me this pair of mourning doves to enjoy today.

This little rabbit perked its ears up for a moment while in the middle of nibbling on a few seeds that had fallen to the ground from a nearby bird feeder. I’ve noticed a larger variety of wildlife beginning to emerge as the weather is warming up 🙂

Today I found this spot on the shores of Lake Michigan, an abstract mix of snow, ice, sand and water. This week continues to be unusually warm with more of the same until the coming weekend.

Last Sunday there was an unusually windy afternoon near Lake Michigan with gusts in the 40 mph range. I decided to see how the lake’s waves were as they came in on a frozen beach. I was surprised by the intensity of those waves as well as the color variations as the sun lit them from behind.

I decided to create this image in grayscale, emphasizing the high contrast.
As the sun neared the horizon, the color of the water turned golden.
And as the sun ended the day, the color became more intense.
