Great Blue

Great Blue Herons are one of my favorite subjects to photograph. I was especially happy to be close enough to photograph this one in flight.

Launch!

I spotted some Tree Swallows flying near a nesting box today. I caught the moment this one launched itself sideways from its perch. Today was a beautiful sunny day in West Michigan. It was a welcome change from the recent rain and snow.

Pink Surprise

I found this little pink colored surprise waiting for me outside my door today and had to share it here. It actually was quite large for moths I’ve seen, this one measuring about 4 inches wingtip to wingtip. Its been a while since I posted, hopefully I’ll have more time the rest of this summer. In the meantime, enjoy nature’s work of art here 🙂

Note: A good friend of mine pointed out that this is probably an Imperial Moth. Here’s a link with more info 🙂

When given the opportunity, I enjoy photographing ducks in flight. On this day, I was pleased to get this group displaying some color.

Look Up

Sometimes all you need to do is look up, as I did when this green heron flew right above me in a wetland area in Southwest Michigan near sunset.
